Three Marriage Blessings

A Wedding Blessing 1

 The blessing of the earth to you
 may the mountains
 clap their hands for you
 may the hills dance around you with delight
 may the valleys receive the news of your coming
 as you have come separately
 and leave together
 may the earth welcome your footsteps
 and know the sound of your new presence.

 May the water spindle up in joy for you
 may you drink in the pleasure of your love
 may the great sea part for you
 when you share courage and faith
 may springs refresh and renew you
 in deep pools of forgiveness
 may the rain shower you even in summer
 with its watery blessings

 May the fire of earth,
 the fire under you
 be also a fire of love in you
 may you be passionate in love and work
 and may the flame in you
 that knows its loneliness
 always flow to the flame in the other
 that you might glow together in 
 the dancing love between you

 And from the greenness of trees and gardens
 may the air you breathe
 give fragrance to the person between you
 the one that grows from your love
 that eats and drinks from your tendering
 the soul that you share together
 and may it bless you with the children of your desire

 So may you breathe and walk
 with confidence in love
 and may the gentle whispering God 
 be breathing your life with you.
