A Welsh Incident by Robert Graves

Read by Bob Commin to prepare you for the World Cup Final

I Love this poem by Robert Graves. It is such a good example of storytelling. The teller sustains interest by saying: “I was coming to that”. But who are these creatures that emerge from the caves of Crieccieth? In the end we still don’t know. But rugby players before a world cup will adequately fit his description:

Marvellous creation,
All various shapes and sizes, and no sizes,
All new, each perfectly unlike his neighbour.
Though all came moving slowly out together
